A City Within A City: Cemetery Tour

The “A City Within a City” Graveyard Tour is a reflective and educational experience that explores the hidden histories, untold stories, and enduring legacies of Grand Rapids’ Black community. Rooted in the themes of the documentary A City Within a City, this guided tour brings participants into sacred spaces of memory where community leaders, families, and cultural pioneers are honored.

Through storytelling and historical context, the tour reveals how generations shaped the city’s identity while confronting systems of segregation, resilience, and achievement. It is both a tribute and a teaching experience—inviting participants to remember, reflect, and reconnect with the foundations of Black life and legacy in Grand Rapids.
